Koenigsegg Agera R

The Koenigsegg is a Swedish word, and it may not be a popular brand among most sports car fans, however, if you ask which car can race with a Bugatti Veyron, it is Agera R.

This Agera R has a 5.0 litre V8 engine and it weighs just 197kg with flywheel, clutch, dry sump system, exhaust, turbo and manifold system all attached. An incredibly low weight considering the ferocious output. It is a strong system. Despite running at 28 bar of pressure, reliability issues are almost unheard of, even in the highest mileage cars.

One of the secrets to obtain such high power output from a relatively small engine, is that Koenigsegg’s engineering department has designed a unique shape for the combustion chamber combined with a unique philosophy for the intake systems dynamics. These designs suppresses detonation, also called knocking and at the same time allow for a higher average combustion pressure than otherwise possible. The super light but strong, ceramically coated and forged pistons only weigh 280 grams and feature the Koenigsegg logo laser engraved on top of the ceramic dome. These super light pistons are in turn mounted on Koenigseggs own titanium connection rods. The list of unique solutions goes on and on. Even the fuel pump system is designed for the application. Koenigsegg’s ability to factor in every facet of the Agera’s physical form means that the engine is perfectly balanced for the car it is fitted to.

In total, the Koenigsegg Agera R produces 960hp on 95 octane regular fuel and 1,140hp running on E85 bio fuel. Yet Koenigsegg will also be quick to point out that the engine passes worldwide emissions standards as well as maintaining a 16mpg fuel economy rating. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. It combines a dry and wet clutch system for ultra quick shifts. It is lighter, faster and more reliable than similar gearboxes.

Mclaren MP4-12C

The Mclaren is known as the best manufacturer by putting the Formula 1 car into street cars.

This MP4-12C equipped with a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and it uses a flat-plane crank, which is why it doesn’t sound like a traditional V8. However it’s a lot louder than expected, particularly when cold, but once warmed up it quietens down to provide a less aurally-intrusive experience. The McLaren’s limits are way beyond anything you can do on a public road. That’s when you’ll be grateful that both the powertrain and suspension have three settings each - Normal, Sport and Track.

For safety, the MP4-12C has been built with an immensely strong carbon-fibre tub, with aluminium crumple zones front and rear, keeping the passenger cell intact. There’s also driver and passenger front, side and head airbags, as well as traction control, ABS, ESC, brake-disc wiping and precharge.

Ferrari 458

image from: http://www.wired.com/autopia/2009/09/458-italia-unveiled/

The all new Ferrari 458 is latest model released by Ferrari, it is considered as one of the fastest car in the world.

The F458 is powered by a 4.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 that delivers 419kW of power at 9000 revs and 540Nm of torque at 6000 revs, enough mambo to propel the mid-engined Spider from rest to 100km/h in a withering 3.4 seconds. The old 'quarter mile' takes 11.4 seconds and it has a top speed where permissible of 320km/h.

The 458’s low centre console and narrow sills means it feels quite spacious inside and unlike the narrow, offset footwell of the McLaren, you can happily rest your legs apart if need be. The driving position is spot on and the beautifully trimmed sports seats are comfortable enough to sustain quite long journeys. The Ferrari’s climate control also never puts a foot wrong, even in searing conditions. For a car that can reel off 11.3-second quarter miles, its premium comfort level is an unexpected bonus.

Therefore, this F458 is the car you can drive to work and also drive for fun.

Lamborghini Aventador

When car fans are talking about sport cars, the Lamborghini is definitely can not be excluded. I remember that when i was an child, my mate asked me what is your favourite car? My answer was Lamborghini. However, when you closely looked at it, you may found it is actually an acceleration machine rather a car.

image from: http://wallgood.com/luxury-lamborghini-aventador-wallpaper-hd.html

The Lamborghini Aventador is a two-seater hyper sports car and was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011. The Aventador will replace the MurciƩlago and uses a 6.5-litre, V12 engine which produces 700 HP at 8,250 rpm and 509 lb-ft at 5,500 rpm. This output is just enough to sprint the car from 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds while blasting off a top speed of 217 mph.

The hexagons that make up a large part of the Roadster's shell design - and incidentally are absent in the Aventador coupe - are a tip of the hat by Lamborghini to the element of carbon. Carbon fibre, you see, forms the bulk of the car's bodywork. The rest is jagged euphoria.
